A mountain lodge in the heart of the Norwegian mountains

Welcome to Sikkilsdalseter – a traditional mountain lodge surrounded by nature, history and peaceful mountain landscapes.

Located at 1016 metres above sea level, deep in Sikkilsdalen in Nord-Fron, Sikkilsdalseter is a place to slow down, enjoy good food and experience the Norwegian mountains.

Here, you can stay in the main lodge or one of our cabins, explore the surrounding mountains, go fishing or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.

Experience Sikkilsdalen

Sikkilsdalen offers beautiful mountain experiences throughout the year.

During the summer season, the valley is a great starting point for hiking, fishing and exploring the surrounding mountains.

In winter, the valley takes on a completely different character. The final kilometres to the lodge are not cleared of snow, and guests travel in by snowcat from Åkremoen.

The journey into the mountains becomes part of the experience.

A mountain lodge with more than 150 years of history

The Sande family settled in Sikkilsdalen in the late 1860s. The first travellers soon began staying at the mountain farm, and Sikkilsdalseter developed into a natural stopping place for people travelling through the mountains.

Today, Tor Varpestuen is the fifth generation to run Sikkilsdalseter.

Much has changed over the years, but the mountains, the location and the tradition of welcoming guests remain.

Stay with us

Sikkilsdalseter offers accommodation in the main mountain lodge and in cabins on the property.

The main lodge has 16 rooms, while we also have 6 rental cabins. In total, we can accommodate around 72 guests.

Whether you are looking for an active mountain holiday, a peaceful getaway or a traditional Norwegian mountain experience, you are welcome here.

Food and mountain hospitality

Good food has always been an important part of staying at a mountain lodge.

After a day in the mountains, there is something special about coming inside, warming up and sitting down to a good meal.

For our overnight guests, we serve a three-course dinner, with the evening meal being an important part of the experience at Sikkilsdalseter.

Winter stays and Easter

From February, groups can book weekend stays at Sikkilsdalseter.

The journey into the valley is made by snowcat, and once you arrive, you can enjoy skiing, mountain walks, good food and evenings by the fire.

During Easter, the lodge is open to everyone.

Here you will find us

We are located in Sikkilsdalen, a side valley of Gudbrandsdalen towards Jotunheimen.

To find us, you can drive FV 255 from Lillehammer via Gausdal and Skåbu or you can drive Gudbrandsdalen to Vinstra via Skåbu and on from there.

In the summer you can drive Jotunheimvegen from Bygdin and Flekkmovegen from Randsverk and Murudalen.
